About the School

Vellayan Chettiar Hr. Sec. School is a Government-aided institution managed by AMM Foundation. It is named after AMM Vellayan Chettiar, the son of Dewan Bahadur A.M. Murugappa Chettiar. AMM Vellayan Chettiar was also one of the founder members of AMM Charities Trust. The present High School was taken over by the trust from the district board in 1963. It was taken over by the AMM Charities Trust from the erstwhile District Board in the year 1963. The School with an 11.66-acre campus is located on the Thiruvottiyur High Road in a densely populated locality. It not only caters to the children of the the fisherfolk of the locality; it also caters to the children whose parents are working in the various industries nearby.
